Why surveys belong in the event app

The best time to ask is while people are still in the room

A feedback email the week after an event competes with everything else in the inbox. A survey on the phone attendees are already holding, during the event, is one tap away.

Memory fades fast

Ask about a session while it is fresh and the answers are specific. Ask a week later and you get general impressions.

It is already in their hand

Surveys sit in the same app as the agenda and badge, so answering is a tap, not a new website to open.

One code on the closing slide

Put the survey's QR code on screen at the end of a session and the room can answer before it empties.

Answers, not a spreadsheet

Results arrive as a summary with charts and an NPS score, so the debrief starts from the numbers, not from cleaning data.

For attendees

Easy to find, quick to finish

A Surveys screen in the app

Open surveys are listed on their own Surveys screen. The Me screen shows a badge counting the ones still to answer.

Or straight from a link

Every survey has its own link and QR code that open in the browser, with no app to install. Surveys open to anyone with the link need no sign-in either.

One question at a time

Show the whole survey on one page, or one question at a time with Next and Back and a progress bar.

Change an answer later

On sign-in surveys, you can let attendees come back and update their answers instead of starting again.

Wherever you put it

Add a survey as a tab, a side-menu item, a quick action, a floating button or a home screen widget.

On brand

Each survey takes an accent colour and cover image, with your own wording on the submit button and the thank-you screen.

Question types

Seventeen question types

From a quick star rating to a ranking or a matrix, every question can be marked required.

Star ratings can use stars, hearts or thumbs. Multiple choice and checkboxes can include an "Other" box, and checkboxes can cap how many may be ticked.

How a survey runs

From blank form to results

Run as many surveys as the event needs: one for the whole event, and one for each session or activity you want feedback on.

  1. 1
    Organiser

    Start from a template

Begin with Event feedback, Session feedback or a blank survey, then add, reorder and edit questions.

  2. 2
    Organiser

    Design and preview

Set the accent colour, cover image, progress bar and thank-you message. Preview it exactly as attendees will see it, even as a draft.

  3. 3
    Organiser

Choose who can answer and publish

Sign-in surveys take one named response per attendee. Link surveys let anyone answer anonymously. Then publish.

  4. 4
    Attendee

Answer in the app or by QR

Attendees open it from the Surveys screen, a menu item or the QR code on a slide, and submit in a minute.

  5. 5
    Organiser

    Read the results

Open the summary for charts and averages, look through individual responses, or export everything to CSV.

For the organizing team

Results that make the debrief easy

Every survey has a Responses tab with a summary of every question and the full list of answers.

  • Charts for choices: a bar for each option on multiple choice, checkbox and dropdown questions.
  • Ratings at a glance: average, lowest and highest for star ratings and scales.
  • NPS calculated for you: the Net Promoter Score appears on the summary.
  • Matrix and ranking: percentage tables for matrix questions and an average rank for ranking.
  • Every response: name and email for sign-in surveys, or "Anonymous" for link surveys.
  • CSV export: in the event's time zone, with no name columns for anonymous surveys.
  • Closing rules: close at a date and time, after a number of responses, or by hand, with your own closed message.
  • Protected from spam: link surveys have a bot trap and rate limits.

FAQ

Survey questions

Do attendees need the NookPass app to answer?

No. Every survey has a link and a QR code that open in the browser. Signed-in attendees also find open surveys on the Surveys screen of the event app.

Can responses be anonymous?

Yes. Set the survey to Anyone with the link and responses are anonymous, with no sign-in needed. Set it to Sign-in required and each attendee gives one named response.

What kinds of questions can we ask?

There are 17 types: short answer, paragraph, email, phone, number, multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, yes/no, ranking, matrix (Likert), star rating, linear scale, Net Promoter Score, date, time and section headings. Any question can be required.

Can we run a separate survey for each session?

Yes. An event can have many surveys, and the Session feedback template is a quick starting point. Share each one with its own QR code on the session's closing slide, or add it to the app's menu.

Can attendees change their answers?

On sign-in surveys you can allow it. Attendees then reopen the survey and update their answers. Otherwise they see that they have already answered.

How do we close a survey?

Close it by hand, or set it to close at a date and time or after a number of responses. Attendees who arrive afterwards see your closed message.

How do we see the results?

The Responses tab shows a summary of every question, with charts for choices, averages for ratings and scales, the NPS score and the newest written answers, plus each individual response. Export everything to CSV.

How do we turn on Surveys for our event?

Surveys is an app the event team adds to its NookPass dashboard. Get in touch and we will help you set it up for your event.
